Joan Ellen Langley was born October 2, 1946 in Amarillo, TX and passed from this life on June 19, 2021.
Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, June 24, 2021 in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Joan graduated from Tascosa High School in 1964 and continued her education at West Texas University receiving Bachelors and Masters Degrees. She soon left Amarillo for California where she spent the majority of her adult life. She obtained her private pilot’s license and loved flying her Piper Tri Pacer all over. She taught English, Spanish and French in Ridgecrest, CA and Twin City China Lake Naval Weapons Center. She spent some time living in Mexico to further learn the Spanish dialectics. Her MS progressed and she was hired by the head Engineer as his Executive Assistant in the China Lake Naval Weapons Center, a top secret research and development facility. In 2005, after becoming unable to live alone, she moved to Amarillo and was a resident at The Craig.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Sally Langley; and her brother, John Langley.
Joan is survived by her brother, Tom Langley of San Marcos, TX; sister-in-law, Karen Flores Dickerson of Amarillo, TX; and nephew, Mike Langley of Austin, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society Panhandle Chapter, 6222 Canyon Dr. Amarillo, TX 79109.
