The family will be receiving visitors on Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Schooler Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday in The Brentwood Chapel of Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia St., with Randy Davis, Senior Pastor of Lifeway Fellowship Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery, 2900 South Hayes St.John was born June 9, 1929, in Amarillo and was a lifelong resident. He was a loyal and much loved husband and father known for his quiet strength and deep love for family.John was employed by the Santa Fe Railway where he worked 37 years, before retiring as a Car Gang Foreman in 1986. He was a Master Mason and member of Masonic lodge #731 for over 50 years. During his retirement, John enjoyed working on his home and spending time with his family, especially the many grandchildren and great grandchildren he doted on.John was preceded in death by his beloved infant daughter Bonnie. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Henslee; sisters, Roxy Strauss and Celeste Abbot of California; son Johnny Henslee of Amarillo; son Randy Henslee and wife Loretta of Maryville, Tenn.; daughter Nancy Sims and husband Rick of Amarillo; son Les Henslee of Plano; and seven grandchildren, Brandy Puryear; Scott Puryear; Virginia Mumejian; John L. Henslee III; Ashley Sims; Josh Sims; and Amber Sims. John also has ten great grandchildren including Josh, Michael, Majestia, Saxon, Jazlynn, Kingston, Isaiah, Jacob, Katlyn and Shyanne.
