John F. Scott entered Heaven on November 8, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family.

A rosary followed by a prayer service will be on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 6:00 PM at St. Mary's Cathedral. The funeral mass will be on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Cathedral. The celebrant will be Rev. Anthony C. Neusch. Interment will follow at Llano Cemetery.

John Francis Scott was born on July 23, 1951, to his parents, Bobby and Kathryn Kobler Scott, in Chandler, AZ. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1969. In 1978, he married the beautiful Elaine Ramaekers in Nazareth, TX. This marked the beginning of an adventure that would last the next forty-six years, growing to include four children. John retired in 2018 from Owens Corning after thirty-five years. From a very young age, John was a trailblazer. He wanted to be the first to do anything and everything just to see the outcome. His curiosity and hunger for knowledge were intense; John was always prepared to experiment and never backed down from a challenge. Nine times out of ten, he achieved the results he intended. His favorite show was Shark Tank, and he was convinced that, given enough time, he would come up with an idea that would change the world. John was an extraordinarily gifted individual. He could play the guitar, create beautiful sketches, and design incredible woodworking projects. His children and grandchildren grew up playing with toys John made just for them. Throughout the years, they enjoyed family dinners and games around a table he hand-finished.

He was a man who could strike up a conversation with anyone! He was filled with joy and always had a smile, albeit sometimes an ornery one. As adventurous as he was, his favorite place to be was right in the middle of his family. He loved and defended them fiercely. John's greatest gift to his family was his presence; whether it was attending a child or grandchild's activity, he was there to encourage, support, and sometimes even help move furniture! He was preceded in death by his parents: two daughters, Nicole and Annette; a son, Eric; and his stepmother, Norma L. Scott.

John is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Elaine; three daughters, Kara Scott, Rachel Stephens and husband Bennett and Megan Baucom and husband Michael; his son, Daniel Scott; a sister, Ann Brisley and husband Pete of Silverton; two brothers, Michael Scott and wife Martha of Arlington and Robert Scott and wife Donna of Amarillo; and four precious grandchildren, Kaydence and Truett Scott, and Ace and Magnolia Baucom.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to ACTS Amarillo, P.O. Box 40701 Amarillo 79120 or St. Mary’s Cathedral School, 1200 South Washington, 79102
