Juanita was born on June 17, 1939, in Lagarto, Texas to Elena Martinez. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Candelario Aguilar. On May 1, 1953, in Alice, Texas, she married Demetrio Rubio Jr.  Together they spent 70 years together building their family until Demetrio’s passing just two short months ago.

Juanita was a housewife while her children grew up. She was an incredibly loving mother and took pride in being their Mother. Once they were of age, she reentered the workforce as a housekeeper for the hospital in Plainview, Texas where she worked for many years until the family relocated to Amarillo in 1985. She worked at St Anthony’s Hospital in Amarillo as a housekeeper again until the hospital’s closing. Juanita would then spend time working in a local nursing home before finally retiring to pursue her greatest passion, watching her grandchildren.

Juanita loved to take care of people. She genuinely cared for others more than herself. Her heart was just wired to ensure that everyone around her was completely and wholeheartedly taken care of. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. No matter if they were grand, great-grand, or great-great-grandchildren, Juanita loved having them over, or even going to their homes to see them. With so many, she certainly had plenty to do in retirement.

Juanita is preceded in death by her husband, Demetrio Jr., son, Robert, daughters, Margarita, Ursula, and Isabelle; sons-in-law, Leo Ramos and Casiano, grandsons, Andrew, Keegan, and Raiden, great grandsons, Joe Angel and Isaiah Ruiz, great granddaughter Xranda Ruiz, her parents, and sisters, Jovita Garcia and husband, Marcos and Tina Hinojosa and husband, Gregorio.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Belen Ramos and Maria Johnson and husband, Donnie, sons, Demetrio Rubio III and wife, Sandra and Pete Rubio and wife, Dolores, sisters, Leonor Charles and husband, Martin and Nelda Aguilar-Flores, brother, Candelario Aguilar and wife, Nora; 27 grandchildren, 67, great-grandchildren, and 31 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many other extended family and friends.
