Kenneth Tomei Giromini was born September 22, 1960 in Amarillo, TX to Joseph and Patricia Giromini. He graduated from Canyon High School in 1978 and attended Texas State Technical Institute in Amarillo, obtaining a degree in Construction. He was self-employed as a home improvement contractor (Ken’s Home Improvements) and was adept in building home additions, pergolas, bathroom showers/tile floors, as well as being a very sought-after painter. He always strived to perform his jobs to the highest quality as he prided himself on his work. Word-of-mouth advertising brought him several jobs and left numerous happy clients over the past 32 years. Ken also had seven rental properties that he managed for the past 30+ years.
Ken enjoyed watching NASCAR each weekend, especially cheering for Jeff Gordon when he was still racing. Chase Elliott and the other drivers on the Hendrick Team became his new favorite after Gordon’s retirement. Ken and Ramona have attended a few races together at Texas Motor Speedway, and feeling the cars racing by was always a thrill.
Ken had a passion for gardening including raised vegetable beds and his perennial flower gardens. He loved to cook and could be found whipping something up in the kitchen at all times of day. His preference was barbecue grilling for his family, his church, and for the Knights of Columbus Council. Whenever cooking was involved, it was in this that folks found Ken – ready, willing, and able.
Ken was the Financial Secretary for the St. Ann’s Knights of Columbus Council #7840. He relished this responsibility and spent many hours organizing all the various areas that this position involved. He also assisted with various projects at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, including installing the stained glass windows in the sanctuary of the church, and volunteered his time to install the Monument to the Unborn located in front of the church.
Ken will be missed by all who knew him – none more than his immediate and extended family. May God hold him in His hand and envelope him with His love.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Giromini; and sister-in-law, Charlene Giromini.
Ken is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ramona Giromini; 3 daughters, Tasha Thomas (Matthew) of Amarillo, TX, Tyla Gallegos (Nicholas) of Waynesboro, VA, and Trisha Giromini of Amarillo, TX; sister, Mary Ann Everett (Phil) of Temple, TX; and brother, John Giromini of Irving, TX.
