Kenneth Eugene Kambour

June 20, 1969 — May 8, 2023

Albuquerque

Kenneth Kambour, 53, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away in his sleep Monday, May 8, 2023.  Kenneth was born June 20, 1969, in Pampa, Texas, to Sandra and Edward Kambour.  He graduated from Rapid City Stevens High School, earned his BS and MS from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and his Ph.D. from Texas Tech, all in Physics.  Kenneth worked as a Physicist at the Sandia National Labs in Albuquerque after finishing his education.  Kenneth loved science, both fact (as per his chosen profession) and fiction.

Kenneth was a comics and sci-fi fanatic, especially Star Trek, in all its manifestations, Star Wars and Doctor Who.  Kenneth had a very active and curious mind; he loved to discuss (and “occasionally” argue about) current events, sports, politics, science, and philosophy.  Kenneth was a very gentle giant, always “big for his size,” and very intelligent, although he never really learned how to properly shave, comb his hair, or use his inside voice.

Kenneth didn’t have children, but he loved his nieces and nephews and especially enjoyed spoiling them at Christmas time.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Sandra and Edward Kambour.  Kenneth is survived by his brother, Edward Kambour, and his wife, Theresa of Spring, Texas; his sister, Kimberly, and her husband, Paul Renfrew of Mesa, Arizona; and his five nieces and nephews, Ryan, Tim, Holly, Emmy, and Charlie.
