Leroy was Born to Edmund Kitten and Louetta (Kahlich) Kitten December 30, 1938, in Slaton, Texas. He spent his entire childhood there on the family farm surrounded by countless uncles, aunts, cousins and others he considered family. He ventured out of Slaton for the first time at the age of 18 to join the army. He served in Korea where he was a radio operator.

He returned after his tour of duty to start farming alongside his dad. He was blessed with 4 daughters during that time. His travel during the army instilled in him a sense of adventure for himself and opportunities for his daughters.

He moved to Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo College with an Associate’s Degree in Business. What started as a part-time hobby of growing tomatoes and geraniums in a greenhouse soon grew into a bustling floral and house plant business. He also attained his real estate license and began selling houses. He had many other jobs and side jobs over the years. His retirement years were filled with golf and classic car restoration. He could be found around town at any number of Car Shows or on a Golf Course. His favorite past time was ribbing the other car show participants or his golf buddies. The stories of his classic car and golf escapades will live on.

He is survived by his wife Ann Kitten of Amarillo; his 4 daughters, Allison & husband Chris Tse of San Antonio, Lori & husband John Robinett of Amarillo, Melany & husband Tony Robinson of Amarillo, Wendy and husband John Hill of Northlake, Mike & wife Tina Dickerson of Las Vegas, NV, Dee Neise & Husband Mike Hurd of Amarillo and Jay Dickerson of Dallas; his 23 Grandchildren; and 12 Great Grandchildren.
