Linda Joyce Beck was born on September 13, 1940, in Galveston, Texas. As a young woman in high school, Linda met a handsome senior named Fred Beck. Their love story began early, and when Linda was just sixteen years old, Fred proposed. The two were married on June 6, 1959, in Galveston, Texas, and recently celebrated 67 beautiful years of marriage.

Linda and Fred both attended Howard Payne University before moving to California. It was during their time in California that they felt called to the mission field, a calling that would shape the rest of their lives. Together, they served for many years in both Indonesia and India, faithfully sharing the love of Christ with those around them.

While on the mission field, Linda homeschooled their children and taught the English language to the people they served. She endured the many illnesses and diseases common to the areas where they lived, yet she persevered with strength, determination, and unwavering faith. Linda was fully committed to the calling God had placed on her life and was devoted to serving both the Lord and the people of Indonesia and India.

Fred lovingly referred to Linda as his “fullback,” because no matter the difficulty, she cleared the path before him. She was his partner, his strength, and his faithful companion in life and ministry.

Linda was welcoming, loving, and kind. She enjoyed being a missionary and had a deep love for people and animals, especially dogs. Through her life, she set a beautiful example of how to love others well.

At the end of her life, Linda remained strong and determined. She made it clear that she would leave this world on her own terms, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. Her life was marked by faith, courage, devotion, and love, and her legacy will continue in the lives of all who were blessed to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hollis Elliott and Ava Mae Dawson Rountree: her sister, Geraldine; and a granddaughter, Khara Elese Hotmann.

Linda is survived by her husband Fred; her daughter Pamela Hotmann and husband Mark; by her sons, Stephen Beck and wife Connie, Micah Beck and wife Alison, and Matt Beck and wife Jodi; ten grandchildren, Jordan and wife Bonne, Katryce and husband Jake, Alyssa and husband Clay, Bryce, Bryan and wife Kiaran, Brette and husband Adam, Ciara and husband Ben, Daniel, Levi and Owen; and by her great grandchildren, Easton, Dash, Beckham, Collins, Rowan, Kason, Cambry, Jayden. Milam, Bennett, Silas, Piper, Lyla, and Josiah.
