Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 28 at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Chaplain Jerry Bell will officiate. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 29 in the First Baptist Church Chapel. Dr. Howard Batson will officiate. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Loren L. Griffith, beloved father, was born February 21, 1918 in Jackson County, OK to Jesse and Carrie Griffith. He was released from earthly bonds on September 24, 2009 at the age of 91 years.
Loren was a member of the US Army and served in the Philippine Islands during WWII and was a member of “The Greatest Generation”. He was employed by Southwestern Public Service Company for forty-three years and retired in 1983. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Amarillo for more than seventy years.
Loren was the best of the best and will be sorely missed by family and friends.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Park Central Towers, Moore Assisted Living, Ware Living Center and BSA Hospice. Words can’t express our heartfelt gratitude and thanks for all the kindness and compassion given to the entire family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; four brothers, Nolan, Lloyd, Otis and Arlis; two step-sons, Don and Duane Cole and grandsons Christian K. Griffith and Don W. Cole.
He is survived by his son Roger Griffith and wife Elwanda of Amarillo; daughter-in-law Frances Cole of Florida, granddaughter Janice Tremblay of Florida and many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to a favorite charity.
