Mrs. Benefield was born in Plainview, TX. She graduated from Plainview High School and Draughn's Business College. She was a Bookkeeper for many years. She was always helpful, loyal, and devoted to her family and friends. She led by example and taught life lessons with compassion. She was a gifted artist and seamstress. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Jan Werner. She was cared for and loved by all those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy William Benefield, her son William Frederick Benefield, her daughter Shari Jean Blankenship, a brother Jeffery DeRusha. Sister Josephine Law and a step-daughter, Barbara Waldie. She is survived by three daughters, Truby Gandy of Lubbock, Levenie Hughes of Annandale, VA, and Donnie Benefield of Amarillo; one son, Johnson Benefield of Hot Springs, AR; one sister, Marie Casey of Bodfish, CA; one step-daughter, Catheron Contreras of Amarillo; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and her best friend of 43 years Mamie Thaxton of Hereford.
