Marcia was born on August 18, 1964 to Joe and Judy Crowley in Hereford, Texas. She was baptized in the First United Methodist Church. She attended Bluebonnet Elementary School and was active in Camp Fire Girls, where she discovered her love for arts and crafts and teaching. She loved animals, especially the family Cockapoo, Rusty. She attended Stanton Junior High where she actively participated in band as an oboe player, choir, mathematics, twirling and Spirit Club. She attended Hereford High School, continuing her participation in music and mathematics, also joining the Marching Flag Team, Orchestra and Theater productions, and competing in several UIL competitions with teams and individually. Marcia was an honor student and a member of the National Honor Society. Through FUMC Hereford, she participated in Spirit Wind performing choir. She delighted in spoon and stamp collecting, as well as crafts; counted cross-stitch was her favorite. After graduating high school, she attended West Texas State University from 1982 until 1986, majoring in Math Education. She worked summers on staff at Ceta Canyon Camp & Retreat Center.

Marcia graduated with honors from WTSU in 1986. One of her first career offerings came from Van Horn, Texas. After one visit to the community, she loved the area and the people and found her new home there. She devoted the next 36 years of her life to her heart’s passions: teaching, mentoring and improving others’ lives through her hard work and love for her community. She sponsored several extra-curricular organizations, including math team, yearbook committee, newsletter committee, cheerleading team, calculator applications team, number sense team, literary criticism, one-act play and debate team. The debate team won their division’s state UIL competition. Over her career she served as Director of UIL Academics, TECH Student Council Sponsor, Dean of Mathematics, TECH Leadership Team, and Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers’ Sorority. She served in the Davis Mountain Scholarship Foundation, Twentieth Century Club and Big Bend Area Teachers organizations, all dedicated to providing scholarships for local students in a four county area. She also served on the Methodist Church council. Marcia’s close friends mention how she always gave her “spare time” for her students and community. She was a faithful and devout Christian, as shown by her selfless actions in service to others.

Marcia is survived by her parents, Joe and Judy of Hereford Texas, brother Chris, nephews Sean and Patrick and grand-niece Serenity, all of Amarillo.
