Margie Charlene Ubben

Margie Charlene Ubben, 90, of Amarillo, passed away March 7, 2024.

Born January 21, 1934 in Vernon Texas, Margie attended Horace Mann Junior High and Amarillo High School where she was a cheerleader and dabbled in a few beauty contests. Margie married her high school sweetheart, Dwight Ubben. They had 3 daughters and raised them to be brave, endure what life brings, and if a need arose, she was there whether to pack a box, offer a shoulder to cry on or just listen, tend to the grands, or dress in a numbered jersey to get to a game only to have to leave because her nerves couldn't stand to watch. She felt for others and their situation as if she was going through it herself. She was above all a loving wife and mother and had a marriage lasting over half a decade only to be ended by the passing of the love of her life in 2013.

She worked as a Beauty Consultant in cosmetics at Blackburns and later alongside her beloved husband of 66 years, where they served as proud owners of A-1 Appliance until 1996. Stories of her childhood and the world around her, how it changed, and all she had seen are considered priceless to all those blessed to be family. While family was her top priority, she found time to travel to places like Hawaii and Spain. She loved to sew and when time allowed, quilt. Cooking was a passion especially around the holidays with chicken, noodles and chocolate cream pies that only she perfected and if not perfect, the trash was the recipient and she would start again.

There are not enough words for mom, wife, Nanny, Grandma, "Great-Nanny", sister, and friend who lived an incredible life leaving a legacy that will not be easily duplicated. Margie Charlene Ubben reached the age of 90, filled with love, laughter, and always words of encouragement known by many as their "biggest fan".

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dwight and a daughter, Debbie.

Margie is survived by her daughters, Sharon Carlton and husband, Bill, and Tracy Bauman; grandchildren, Ashleigh Baker and husband, Jeff, Drake Nichols, Randy and wife, Angie Johnson, Jennifer and husband, Tim Beecher, Chad Bauman and wife, Kelli, Molli Bauman and Bonni and husband, Brian Braun; and great-grandchildren, Shannen and Jayme Bartlett, Rylee, Lainee and Mia Johnson, Trey and Jackson Beecher,  Charlotte and Beckham Braun and Preslie Bauman.
