Marilyn Julia (Martin) Olomon

We are sad to announce that Marilyn Julia Olomon, 83, of Brunswick, GA died Monday, March 31, 2023.

The family will receive guests on Friday evening, April 7, 2023, from 5:30 until 6:30 PM, at Schooler Funeral Home.  The funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 8, 2023, in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel.  Private burial will be at Palo Duro Cemetery in Wildorado, Texas.   Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., in Amarillo.

Marilyn Martin was born March 19, 1940, in Medicine Lodge, KS, along with her twin sister, Miriam. She graduated from Medicine Lodge High School in Medicine Lodge in 1958.

Marilyn married Ed Olomon on Jan. 23, 1959, following a 6-week whirlwind courtship.  They were married 54 years prior to his death in 2013.

Marilyn dedicated herself tirelessly to raising their family while Ed worked as a clerk and telegrapher for 42 years for Rock Island Railway and the Southern Pacific Railway.  During those years, the family moved numerous times, living in several communities throughout Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma. Their children graduated from high school in Bucklin, KS, Hooker, OK, and Houston, TX.

After raising their children, Ed and Marilyn spent their retirement years in Houston before moving to St. Mary's, GA, in 2013 to be near family.  She has resided with her daughter, Julie Simpson, since.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Lawrence and Esther Ellen Martin (Davis); her husband, Harry Edwin “Ed” Olomon; her siblings, Lawrence Martin, Lloyd Martin, Charles Martin, Elsie Wells, Ruth Brown, Mildred Martin, Marjorie Colburn, Betty Kaup, and Wilma Murphy.

Survivors include her siblings, Paul Martin of Wichita, KS, Billie Martin of Liberal, KS, and Miriam Bradford of Wichita, KS;  two sons, Edwin Olomon of Rescue, CA and Corey Olomon of Seattle, WA.; two daughters, Lanette Housman of Dodge City, KS, and Julie Simpson of St. Mary's, GA; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
