Marion B. “Bo” Green, 90, of Amarillo, passed peacefully with his family by his side on June 27, 2026.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 12 pm to 5 pm at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. The family will receive guests from 5 pm to 7 pm that evening. Funeral services will take place at 2 pm on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, in the funeral home’s Brentwood Chapel. Burial will follow at Memory Garden’s Cemetery. Military Honors are by Amarillo Volleys for Veterans.
Bo was born in Lubbock Texas on December 9, 1935, to Ozie Lee and Gussie Mae (Walker) Green. Following his formal schooling, Bo enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country proudly for seven and half years during the Korean Conflict. Three and half years active duty with a tour overseas, and four years in the United States Army Reserves. On July 20, 1974, in Stratford, Texas, Bo married the love of his life, Peggy Joyce Vanover. They spent the next 51 years together building a beautiful family. When asked what Bo thought about his bride, he would simply reply, “She’s just a peach” with a smile from ear to ear.
Bo was a simple man who enjoyed simple things. A hot day on the water waiting to land the biggest catch was one of his favorite pastimes. Even if he didn’t catch a single fish, Bo was grateful to be there. He found joy in good competition, enjoying NASCAR and Football, though he never really had a favorite driver or team, rather cheering on whoever was having a good season. Bo had a special relationship with nature. He loved animals and could draw them in, no matter the species.
But above all, Bo was a Godly family man. He was the most devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a great-great grandfather. Bo loved and cherished every moment with his family whether it was a simple visit while “in the neighborhood”, or a planned dinner. Bo genuinely adored his family.
Bo is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kaynelle Denise Graf, and grandson, Ryan Wayne Johnson. Those left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Peggy Green, daughters, Suzanne Christensen and Larry, Leisa Green and Kyle, Stacy Johnson and Josh, LeeAnn Keasler and Justin, and a son, Jimmy Hatley; and a legacy of 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.
