Marjorie Stapleton

July 29, 1928 — March 14, 2009

Marjorie was born July 29, 1928, in Hutchinson, Kansas to ail and Ella Lawrence. She was raised in Gove County, KS.  She married Orbie C. Stapleton on September 8, 1947.  She worked as a seamstress for the State of Kansas for twenty years.  She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and tatting and she and her husband were active in Shriners, Grange and the Lutheran Church.  She lived 53 years in Larned, KS moving to  Amarillo from Larned in 2006 to be close to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her oldest son, Jack.
Survivors include her sons, Melvin and wife, JoAnn of Amarillo, TX,  Bill and wife, Debbie of Merritt Island, FL and a daughter-in-law, Rena Stapleton of Larned, KS; three sisters, Mary Ellen Smith and husband, Don, of Ingleside, TX,  Marcialee Lawrence of Lewis, KS and Elsie Helget and husband, David, of Hugoton, KS; one brother, Marvin Lawrence and wife, Linda of Lewis, KS; 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and her beloved dog, Sam.
The family suggests memorials be sent to BSA Hospice, 600 N. Tyler, Amarillo, TX 79107; or to Polk Street United Methodist Church., 1401 S. Polk Street, Amarillo, TX   79101. The family will be at 104 Sunset Terrace. Sign the online guest book at www.beckwithmortuary.com.
