Martin E. Hermesmeyer, 82, of Groom passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 5pm to 7pm at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia in Amarillo. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 10am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 411 Ware Ave in Groom, Texas with Father Raj Samala presiding. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Groom. Arrangements are in the care of Schooler Funeral Home of Amarillo
Martin was born February 18, 1940 in Groom to Charles Francis and Theresa Homer Hermesmeyer. He married, Elizabeth “Betty” Graham on August 16, 1969. She preceded him in death after 30 years of marriage. He was a mechanic at heart working in the farming industry and at John Deere equipment for over 50 years prior to his retirement in 2019. He was an active member in the Groom community including his church, Lions Club, and Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Betty; and three brothers, Ernest Hermesmeyer, Gerald Hermesmeyer and Robert Hermesmeyer; and sister Marilyn Thompson.
He is survived by two sons, Bobby White of San Antonio and Gary White and wife Sharon of Amarillo; brother Gene Hermesmeyer; and special friend Joy Kotora of White Deer.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be sent to Groom Ambulance Service or Groom Lions Club.
