Mary Madeline Vandiver was born March 18, 1936, in McAlister, Oklahoma to her parents, Clyde and Viola Ames.

Shortly after marrying Lloyd, living in Dalhart, Texas, the couple faced a life altering challenge when he lost his eyesight. She had an unwavering commitment to caring, to love and to provide for her family. She was a master at it; she was the anchor of the family.

Later in life, she was blessed to meet Jerry Herrmann. And in their time together, they built a beautiful life filled with joy, love, laughter, and companionship. They enjoyed hosting large get-togethers with the blended families.

She always loved spending time with his family.

Rarely did they spend a winter at their Texas home. In the summer, they enjoyed their time in Sante Fe, New Mexico and Pearl Lakes, Colorado. They enjoyed being in Maui and in Florida during the winter months.

While RVing, they traveled to 45 states, she had a collection of souvenir spoons for each one of them.

Jerry provided immense happiness and loving care for which the family is deeply grateful.

Mary will be remembered for loving Jesus, attending church and the joy of reading her Bible every day, her love for her family and spending time with all her beautiful grandchildren, and recently a newborn great-great grandchild. She loved spending time sewing, quilting, doll making, cake decorating, painting on canvas and the love for her rose garden.

She was never afraid to try something new, if she did, it had to be perfect.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Clyde and Viola Ames, the father of her children, Lloyd Lee Vandiver, her son Rickie Vandiver, son David Lloyd Vandiver, daughter Jacqueline Vandiver Chesser and her husband Cap Chesser, and her second love, Jerry Herrmann and her seven siblings.

She is survived by 3 daughters and their husbands, Carol and Larry Robinson, of Amarillo, Texas, Vicki and Jimmy Coslett, Dover, Oklahoma, and Judy and Mike Blevins, Of Amarillo, Texas, and grandchildren Jocelyn Braun, Quila Smith and JD Coslett, Miles Allard, and Shane Blevins and her great grandchildren and great-great grandchild; and her sister, Shirley and Carl Wilson and their two sons, Carl and Tim Wilson and families; as well as her many cherished extended family members and dear friends.
