Maurice Ollie (Perry) Novak

December 6, 1933 — July 28, 2024

Amarillo

Ollie "Maurice" Perry Novak, 90, of Amarillo, entered heaven on July 28, 2024 and was greeted with big hugs as she walked through the heavenly gates.

The rosary will be recited on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at Schooler Funeral Home in the Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia. Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2500 S. Bolton St, with Reverend Nicholas Gerber presiding. Inurnment will follow at Llano Cemetery.

Maurice was born to her parents, Oliver Lee and Ollie Brewer Perry, in Brownsboro, Texas, on December 6, 1933. She graduated from high school in Tyler. She married the love of her life, Vaclav James Joe Novak, in East Bernard on April 18, 1951. The two would spend the next seventy-one years together until his death on December 31, 2022. They were founding and devoted members of Blessed Sacrament.

Maurice held various jobs throughout her life, but none of them compared to her love and complete devotion to her family. She religiously attended all three of the children’s school and sporting activities. Rain, sleet, or snow could not keep her from traveling to see her children participate; Maurice never wanted to miss a single event.

Although her family was her number one priority and passion, she did have a few other hobbies she liked, such as crafting and quilting. For the past few months, Maurice has attended Jan Werner Adult Day Care, which she always looked forward to attending. There, she played bingo, exercised, and made crafts. This past Mother’s Day, she made her own hat, of which she was very proud.

Maurice supported her family in every way possible, and her favorite place was with her family. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished the time she was able to spend with them. Maurice greeted each of her family and friends with a big hug. She epitomized a loving and devoted wife, mother, and sister, and the world shines a little dimmer without her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Kimberly and Patricia; two sisters and their husbands, Faye George and her husband Johnnie and Pauline Bruce and her husband Ronnie; and her husband James.

Maurice is survived by her two daughters, Sheila Novak of Amarillo and Susan Ford of San Antonio; one son, James Daniel “Danny” Novak and wife Melanie of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Kimberly Saunders, Jessica Martinez, Tyler Novak, Krystal Uribe, and Blake Ford; and five great-grandchildren, Miles and Palmer Saunders, Bryleigh Manis, Harper Uribe and Paxton Leigh Martinez.
