Melba Oakes

Melba Oakes, 83, of Amarillo, TX went home to Jesus peacefully on October 3rd, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Melba grew up in Spearman, TX  and Amarillo, TX. Melba was born November 23, 1937 in Amarillo, TX to Auburn and Greta Curtis. She loved painting, crocheting, cooking, and spending time with her family.  Melba will be dearly missed and always remembered.

Melba is survived by her husband, Jack Oakes; her children, Stephanie Galindo and Husband, Luis Galindo, Jan Hassinger and Husband, Mark Hassinger, Pam Oakes, and Teresa Beasley; her five grandchildren, Lacee Johnston and Husband, Derrel Johnston, Brady Davis, Aaron Oakes, Matthew Beasley, and Audrey Holgerson and Husband, Jim Holgerson; and 7 great grandchildren.

There will be a private graveside service on October 8, 2021 at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Melba to Panhandle Paws of Hope or Grace’s Project.
