Michael Avery Dia
March 5, 1963 – September 30, 2025
Michael Dia, 62, of Amarillo, passed away on September 30, 2025, surrounded by the family he so deeply loved.
Michael was a man defined by dedication, hard work, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Even on the morning of his passing, he was still working, true to his nature of giving his all to every task before him. Though he was notoriously known for running late, once he arrived, he poured himself into every job with precision and care. Particular to a fault, Michael held himself and others, especially his sons-in-law, to the highest standards. His meticulous spirit left an unmistakable mark on all he touched.
Michael’s curiosity and hands-on passion for life led him into countless hobbies and endeavors. From hydroponic gardening to cultivating mushrooms, tending bees, and more, he was always growing, building, or creating something new. His appreciation for the natural world was matched only by his love for time spent outdoors, whether fishing, shooting, or simply enjoying time spent with his grandchildren.
Above all, Michael cherished his role as husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest joy came from time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; his daughters Tabatha Johnson and husband Aaron, and Terra Davis and husband Chris; and his beloved grandchildren, Paisley, Jade, Mason, and Kingston, all of Amarillo. He is also survived by his parents, Carol and Nabil Dia of Amarillo; his brother, Jim Dia of Guymon; and his sister, Patsy Baca of Amarillo.
Michael will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his countless passions, his love of family, and the fingerprints he left on all of our lives. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the example he set, and the memories he created with those who loved him most.
The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Thursday evening, October 2, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
