In 1978, he and his family moved to Saudi Arabia to work for ARAMCO. They lived there for 18 years and were able to travel extensively to many interesting places. In 1996, they returned to Amarillo, TX.

Michael was a man of many talents and interests. He loved to read history books, science fiction books and just about every magazine you can think of. While in Arabia, he belonged to the Photography Club, the Racquetball Club, and the Art Club, he was not only a member, but held offices as well. He became the Eagle Scout Coordinator in Arabia and organized many Scout Camporees for the area scouts throughout the years. He loved designing the patches for these events. After returning from Arabia, he volunteered to do taxes for the police officers and firefighters free of charge and was very active in community politics attending many city council meetings regularly.

He became paralyzed in December 2003, but still continued to work as Asst. Treasurer for Randall County until he retired in May 2011. Michael had endless energy and was always willing to lend a helping hand where needed. He will be missed by his family but he has left behind so many memories.
