Mickie Mae (Pollard) Hester, 94, of Amarillo, passed peacefully in her home on October 19, 2025 with her beloved daughter at her side.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 10 am at Llano Cemetery with her grandson, Kyle Hester, presiding.
Mickie was born on June 18, 1931, in Pampa, Texas to Porter and Bertha (Sharp) Pollard. The family soon found their way 60 miles down Highway 60 to Amarillo where Mickie attended Amarillo schools and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1947. In 1949, she and James Hester made the quick trip over to Clovis, New Mexico where they were wed and returned to Amarillo to begin their family.
Mickie loved her family. They were the light of her world. She spent hours upon hours hosting them in the family home where they would celebrate holidays, birthdays, or any reason to get together. Mickie was meticulous about her lawn and loved to ride the mower making sure it was neatly kept. Her green thumb extended to the inside of the house where she kept ivy plants alive with her caring nature.
Mickie was the life of every party she attended. She was a firecracker, in the nicest way, who loved to dance and celebrate. She enjoyed her trips to the casino to gamble hoping to hit it big, or sitting quietly with her art supplies creating one of her beautiful Southwestern paintings. She was a member of Hillside Christian Church West Campus where she was part of the Lamp Lighters Sunday School Class. She was faithfully devoted to the Lord. Her infectious kindness and carefree spirit will be deeply missed by everyone blessed to know her.
Mickie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son, Gary Hester; brother, Jimmy Pollard, sister, Nancy Hoodenpile, and her longtime friend, Buck Jackson. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cindy Wooldridge and husband Jerry, her four grandchildren, Kyle, Clint, Aaron, and Jake, her seven great-great grandchildren, Jalen, Ella, Bailey, Hunter, Emery, Vivienne, and Hudson; as well as many dear friends and extended family.
