Mickie Bitela Reyes, age 87 of Amarillo entered Heaven on December 4, 2025, in Amarillo.
A rosary will be said on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel, 4100 South Georgia. The funeral mass will be on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 2300 N Spring. Interment will follow at Llano Cemetery.
Mickie was born in Gonzales on June 6, 1938, to her parents, Marin S. and Isabel Garza Bitela. She married Frank B. Reyes on September 7, 1959, and together they were faithful members of St. Laurence Catholic Church.
Mickie was a devoted and loving wife and mother who truly cherished her role within her family. She adored her grandchildren and found great joy in spending time with them. A simple and selfless woman, her life centered on her family and on caring for others.
For over twenty years, Mickie worked as a caregiver and medical aide at Alpha Nursing Center, where her compassion and dedication touched the lives of many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank in 2021; four sisters, Nita Bitela Montano, Sandra Bitela Kitnoshita, Janie Bitela Cueller and an infant sister, Pauline Bitela; by brothers, Frank Bitela, Paul G. Bitela, Raymond G. Bitela, Benancio Bitela and Martin G. Bitela; and a son, Robert Lynn Reyes.
Mickie is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Dees and husband, David of Canyon, TX; son, Daniel Lee Reyes of Amarillo, TX; a brother, Mac Bitela; grandchildren, Alana Dees, James Dees and Robynn Dees; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Aiyana; as well as many nieces and nephews.
