“To be Absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” (2Cor 5:8)

Monte Joseph Johnson, 28 years old, passed on, September 23, 2026, to be with the Lord & his awaiting family members who have gone on before. Monte has left behind many who loved him during his time with us. Coming from a large family, he was frequently surrounded by loving affection & support in his life, he was a dedicated, kind & helpful son, a fun & loving brother, uncle and a warm friend to so many here in his hometown, Amarillo.

We will all miss his warm & inviting smile, wry wit & natural instinct to care for his family & friends.

We take great comfort from his November 15, 2025, journal entry where he wrote out Psalms 23 noting “Memorize this prayer”.

And quoting Jesus’ teaching “…I am the way, the truth, the life: no one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

And his closing statement of faith, ending his notations, will always remain in our minds & hearts: “I, Monte Johnson, believe Jesus is Lord.”
