Nellie Stephens

Nellie “Nell” B. Stephens, 103, of Amarillo, passed peacefully from this world and into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, September 20, 2018.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Schooler Funeral Home 4100 S. Georgia St.        Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel 4100 S. Georgia St.

Nellie was born June 29, 1915 in Downing Texas to Charles and Beulah (Littlefield) Hulsey. She grew up as a farm girl. Her family grew wheat, cotton and peanuts. She and her siblings grew up working on the farm. She met her husband, JW Stephens, at school. They fell in love and eloped in 1933. They had three children; Jo, Beth, and Roger Dale. She spent her life as a homemaker, and she was a member of Fairlane Church of Christ.

Nellie was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, nine of her siblings, her three children, and her granddaughter, Donna.

She is survived by her sister, Inez “Doll” Gordon, and six grandchildren, Dean Stoddard and wife, Camille, Rhonda Edie, and husband, Robert, Jim Richard, Christi Willoughby, Dawn White, and Todd Stephens, and wife, Andrea. She has 12 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and great-nieces.
