Patsy Ruth Walker, 93, of Amarillo, passed peacefully on September 23, 2024.
Viewing hours will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 1 pm to 5 pm, and on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 9 am to 3 pm, at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 10 am at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 14200 Interstate 27 South, with Pat's son Alvin Walker presiding.
Pat was born in Baird, Texas to her parents, Buck and Nora Higgins Harris, on December 15, 1930. She graduated from Portales High School and Eastern New Mexico University.
On December 23, 1947, she married the love of her life, Rev. Troy Walker. Together, they spent the next sixty-two years serving the Lord until Troy’s death in 2009. The couple raised three children: Alvin Walker, Zan Walker, and Keila Walker Sandridge.
Throughout her life, Pat devoted herself to serving God, her church, and her family. She and Troy embarked on many adventures, traveling all over to spread the gospel. Pat dedicated herself to the youth choir and accompanied them on many trips. Some of Pat’s greatest joys were teaching children, music and conducting the Eastridge Baptist Youth Choir. She was a fabulous seamstress and also enjoyed fishing.
Pat was greeted in heaven by her Lord and Savior, her parents, two brothers, a sister, her son Zan Walker, her granddaughter Carla Auzenne, and by her beloved husband,Troy.
She is survived by her son Alvin Walker and wife Brenda; her daughter Keila Sandridge and husband Jay; her daughter-in-law Latitia Hemphill Walker; her grandchildren, Emily Strain and husband Coty, Matthew Walker and wife Lindsey, Brittany McAlexander and husband Seth, Cody Franks and wife Kim, Caitlin Tidwell and husband Nicholas, Shelby Walker, Jada Sandridge and Juliana Sandridge and her fiancé Kenny Pitman; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
