Patty Ann Knapp

October 4, 1934 — January 17, 2009

Pat was born October 4, 1934 in Portland, Oregon and was the first born daughter of Leo and Louise Maloney.  Pat lived with her parents, four sisters and one brother in Spring Creek until she moved to Amarillo to attend St. Mary’s Academy her senior year.  It was at that time that she met and married Kenneth Andrew Knapp, an Air force Private stationed at the Amarillo Air Base.  Kenneth was from Trenton, New Jersey.  Pat and Kenneth married on December 29, 1954.  For the next 14 years, Pat and Kenneth stayed quite busy producing eight wonderful children.
Pat was a devout Catholic and attended St. John’s in Borger, Blessed Sacrament in Amarillo; St. Mary’s in Amarillo and was a member of St. Thomas in Amarillo at the time of her death.  She was the music director for St. John’s and Blessed Sacrament over the years.  Music was one of her many loves and joys.  She loved playing the piano and spending time in prayer.  Her faith was her strongest asset and God has his biggest fan with him today.  She was faithful throughout her illness and is finally at peace at the side of her Father.  Her family is also at peace knowing she no longer suffers and is finally where she has dreamed of being for 74 years.
She loved to travel to visit her children and to enjoy other historical parts of the country as well as her favorite trip to Scotland.  She was an avid gamer and loved her frequent trips to the casino’s.  She collected nativity scenes as a hobby and accrued too many to count. Her absolute favorite past time was sharing her love and time with her husband, her eight children, twenty six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  She was an inspiration to each of them and to everyone she met.  She was an incredible caregiver and a generous and kind person that accepted the life she was given and made the most of it.  She was relentless in providing prayers for the benefit of her children and others.  She was a volunteer to the Catholic Church and considered her time spent with young children in the church some of her most gratifying.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Louise Maloney and her grandson, Tyson Tillman.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Knapp of Amarillo; a son, Andy Knapp of Amarillo, daughter, Teri Corbin and husband Noel of San Antonio; daughter, Kristi Belyeu and husband Kenny of Norman, Oklahoma; son, Kevin Knapp and wife Eliza of Amarillo; son, Tony Knapp and wife Jackie of Amarillo, daughter Karen Lang and husband Bob of Dalhart; daughter Kathy Knapp and fiancé Wayne Jordan of Amarillo; daughter Melissa Hermes and husband David of Lindsey, TX; sisters, Nadine Hadley of Borger, Elaine Bush of Amarillo; Janet Lane of Bluffton, SC; Jacque Wakefield of Borger; brother, Buster Maloney of Corinth, TX; 26 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
