Peggy D. (Gillispie) Nunn

Peggy Darlene Nunn, 73, of Amarillo died on December 12, 2021.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Darlene was born August 20, 1948 in Lamesa, Texas to John and Vermell “Peggy” Gillispie. She graduated from Seminole High School in 1966.  After high school, Darlene went to Wayland Baptist University in Plainview for two years before moving to Amarillo, where she worked for SPS.  She married and they later moved to Borger, where they started a family.  After moving to Panhandle, she began working at Pantex.  While working at Pantex, she went back to college, taking night classes at Wayland, where she obtained a Bachelor's degree. She was active in the City Council while she lived in Panhandle.  She moved to Amarillo in 1992 and lived here until her death.

Darlene was civic minded and a talented pianist. She led a private life and enjoyed reading and needlepoint. Darlene loved watching basketball and football and enjoyed golfing. She never met a stranger and adored her work family at Pantex. She always supported her sons in everything they did.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents.

Darlene is survived by two sons, Christopher Nunn and Jason Nunn; three sisters, Beverly MaGouirk, Jacque Riley and husband Joe, and Kim Daily; and three grandchildren Jordyn Nunn, John Robert Nunn, and Amelia Jane Nunn.  The family asks that any donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association - West Texas Chapter.
