Prestine "Tina" Wells Fulton

September 23, 1950 — April 7, 2026

Amarillo

Prestine “Tina” Wells Fulton entered the gates of Heaven on April 7, 2026.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Dr. Murray Gossett will officiate.

Tina was born on September 23, 1950, in Amarillo to her parents, Roy Preston and Grace Pierce Wells. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1969 and went on to attend Amarillo College, later graduating from Texas Tech in 1973 where she majored in home economics, food, and nutrition. She completed her Dietetic Traineeship at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. After completing the one year internship, she passed the necessary examinations and earned Registered Dietitian status in Texas, a credential she held for nearly 40 years.

During her career, Tina worked for Baylor Medical Center, Dallas, High Plains Baptist Hospital (predecessor of BSA), Amarillo, and she also provided private consulting services through several Amarillo physicians. Her last career position was with Thomas E. Creek Veterans Hospital before retiring in 2016. She found working with the veteran community very challenging and fun.

Tina loved being in the kitchen. She had a passion for cooking and creating, and the more challenging the recipe, the more she enjoyed it. From cookies and breads to casseroles and more, everything she made was always something special and delicious. She made the best homemade vanilla ice cream that has ever existed. One of her favorite traditions each year making gingerbread cookies with her grandchildren. She would begin preparing weeks in advance, preparing dough and gingerbread for a special holiday baking extravaganza with her beloved grands. Using the fruits of her vegetable gardening was her specialty.

She was the best mom and knew a thousand ways to make a summer day so fun. She made every holiday pure magic and she enjoyed traveling and planning trips to new places. Tina was also a very patient teacher and loved doing things with her family.

She enjoyed playing tennis and keeping up with Texas Tech sports. Every night she would search the program listings to see if there was a game on. If not Texas Tech sports, she would follow tennis tournaments or golf.

She was also involved with the women’s organizations of her church. She enjoyed the bible studies and fellowship.

Tina was preceded in death by her parents.

Tina is survived by her devoted husband of forty-five years, John; their son David and his wife Season; her sister, Jan Finney and husband Jud; and her three precious grandchildren, Atlas, Roy and Fable, nieces Stephanie Matthews and Susan Cannan.
