Raenell McDonough, age 76, died January 26, 2023, at her home in Austin, Texas.  Services will be private.

Raenell was born August 19, 1946, to Ray Sam Roberts and Winnie Doris Williams.  She married her husband, Jerome “Jerry” McDonough, on December 1, 1968.  Together they have one son, Brian Christopher McDonough.

Raenell was a talented and well-loved musician in Amarillo.  She graduated from Amarillo High and began working toward a degree at West Texas State University.  After completing a Bachelor’s in Music Education, she sought and completed a Master’s degree.  For many years Raenell taught in the Amarillo public schools.  She then became full-time faculty at Amarillo College, retiring after 20 years.  Her impact on the music community in Amarillo was tremendous and included coaching for the Amarillo Opera and teaching organ at WTAMU.  She was also an active member of the American Organist Guild and a member of Polk Street UMC, where she attended the Seekers Sunday School Class.

Raenell is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, and her in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome McDonough.

She is survived by her son, Brian Christopher, and his wife, Tavy, of Austin, Texas.
