Raymond Allen Jefferson

March 30, 1932 — April 2, 2022

Amarillo

Raymond Allen Jefferson, 90, of Amarillo passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, April 2, 2022.

A graveside service will take place on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at 2pm at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 14200 Interstate 27 South in Amarillo.

Raymond was born on March 30, 1932 in Sterling, Oklahoma to Bryant Allen and Flora Rose (Yandell) Jefferson. He graduated High School in Clayton, New Mexico. In January of 1951, Raymond enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country and obtained the rank of Airman 2nd Class. While attending Clayton High School, he met Carol Snoeberger, whom quickly became the love of his life. This courtship didn’t last long as the two were married on May 16, 1951 in Clayton. He adored his beloved Carol beyond measure. Following his departure from the Air Force, Raymond served as an office manager for Vinson Supply for nearly 40 years.

Raymond had a passion for being outdoors. He loved to fish, although he didn’t enjoy eating them. He spent many days in Eagle’s Nest, New Mexico at the family cabin. He truly loved that little cabin and made every effort to spend as much time as possible there.

Raymond and Carol adored their grandbabies. Their greatest pleasure was spending time with them and creating wonderful memories. Following Carol’s passing in 2017, Raymond spent much of his time with his grandsons and great granddaughter. Skylynn “kept him young” according to the family. He and Carol were also huge sporting fans. It didn’t matter if it was high school football, college baseball, or pro football, they were there to watch or attend in person. They were WTAMU Boosters for many years where they supported the Women’s Volleyball team.

Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved Carol in 2017, and his parents. Those left to cherish his memories are his son Mark and wife Sandy, grandsons Ryan and Lucas Jefferson, and great-granddaughter Skylynn Jefferson. He is also survived by his brother Richard, two sister in laws, one brother in law, and many nieces and nephews.
