Raymond E. Parsons, age 58 of Amarillo died May 22, 2026, in Amarillo.

A memorial gathering is planned for Friday, May 29, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel, 4100 South Georg

Raymond E. Parsons was born May 27, 1967, in Ft. Stewart, Georgia, to Billy Eugene and Lorraine Menge Parsons. He graduated in 1986 from Kingston High School in Kingston, Oklahoma.

Raymond enlisted in the United States Navy in 1988 and served until 1992 aboard the nuclear submarine USS Finback - stationed out of Virginia Beach, VA. After completing his military service, he returned to Oklahoma.

In March 1993, Raymond met Michelle Hollingsworth. They were engaged in May and married on October 23, 1993 in Ada, Oklahoma. Together, they started building a family that grew to include two daughters, McKenzie and Gracen.

The family moved to Amarillo in 1999, where Raymond began his career with Western Marketing (formerly Air Speed Oil Co.). He worked there faithfully from 1999 until 2022, when his health began to decline.

Raymond was quiet and reserved but deeply protective and supportive of his girls. He was a steady presence at their school functions and sporting events. He could repair or build just about anything, and he enjoyed traveling, mountain biking, metal detecting and off-roading in his Jeep.

One of Raymond’s greatest joys was becoming “Pops,” a role he was very excited to embrace.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Raymond is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Michelle; his two daughters, McKenzie Whitsell of Amarillo and Gracen Decker and her husband Creighton of Mustang, Oklahoma; his sister Karen Parsons of Midwest City, OK; his granddaughter, Amelia (and granddaughter Ophelia due in July); extended family and many special friends along the way.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home, US Renal Care and the oncology department at Thomas E. Creek Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center for their committed and continued care of Raymond over the last few years.
