Richard “Rick” Duane Grant, 65, of Amarillo, died April 26, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family.
The family will receive guests on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
The funeral will be on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Polk Street Methodist Church Chapel. The Rev. Katie Hill will officiate.
Rick was born in Amarillo on October 11, 1958, to his parents, Richard Lee and Deloris Diann Wright Grant. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1977. On August 11, 1978, he married Dena LaVerne Norvelle in Amarillo, and they began a love story that would last the next forty-five years and grow to include two sons.
Rick spent over twenty-eight years as a fence builder for Western Fence before retiring in 2013 due to health complications.
Despite their record, he loved the Dallas Cowboys and always was rooting for them ‘boys! He also enjoyed sports of all types, but his favorite sport to watch was whatever sport his grandkids were playing.
Rick was happiest when he was with family and friends, especially at the lake. Many memories were made at Possum Kingdom each year.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Deloris Diann; his father, Richard Lee; his stepmother, June; and a brother, James David Grant.
Rick is survived by his wife, Dena; his oldest son, Charles Coy Grant, and his wife Tosha, and their children, Anthony Smith and Carson Grant; his youngest son, Nolan Ryan Lee Grant, and his children, John Grant and Blaine Grant; and bonus grandson Everett Keeling and his parents Rodney Keeling and Shantel Grant; and his siblings, Robert Randolph Grant and his wife Lisa of Buffalo, Texas, sister Vicky Denise Grant of Durant, Oklahoma, Mick Gaylor and his wife Annette of Springfield, Missouri, and Rocky Grant and his wife Molly; his sister-in-law Judy Terrel; his mother-in-law Pasty Norvelle; and numerous nieces and nephews; and many life longs friends who are considered family.
