Richard (Dick) Runnels

Richard (Dick) Runnels passed away December 19, 2020.

Viewing will be held on Monday December 21, 2020 at Schooler Funeral Home 4100 S. Georgia Amarillo, TX 79110. Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Mary’s Cathedral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on December 22, 2020. Graveside service will be in Chickasha, Oklahoma at Rosehill Cemetery Grand Ave. and 9th at 12:00 p.m. on December 23, 2020.

Dick was born in Ohio and raised in Denton, Texas.  He served honorably in the United States Air Force.  His profession as a welding supply salesman took him from Amarillo to Corpus Christi to San Antonio.  He was involved in the activities of his son, daughter, and granddaughters as a coach, teacher, and mentor in their lives.  Hunting, fishing, golfing, camping, and family activities were among his favorite things to do.  After retirement he was a competitive archer, master builder of remote control airplanes, stained glass creator and award winning hot rod builder.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy; son Matt, daughter-in-law Debbie; daughter Becky Dowda and son-in-law Mike; granddaughters Hannah McKenzie (Cameron); Rachel Parmley (Sam); Madeline Williams (Caleb); Shelby Dowda; and sister-in-law, Louise Ross.
