Robert “Bob” J. Hunt, 81, of Angel Fire, New Mexico, passed peacefully on June 5, 2026.

Two separate Memorial Services are scheduled to honor Robert’s life. The first will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Green Valley School, 6900 FM 2153 Aubrey, TX 76227. The second will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Angel Fire Baptist Church, 63 S Angel Fire Rd, Angel Fire, NM 87710. Interment will follow the July 24th service at the State Veteran’s Cemetery, 34 Country Club Rd, Angel Fire, NM 87710.

Bob was born in Saskatchewan, Canada on October 11, 1944, to Daniel Wilfred and Doris Margaret (Mitchell) Hunt. The family relocated to the United States while he was a child where he was raised in Larimore, North Dakota, eventually graduating from Larimore High School. Following High School, he served two terms in the United States Army during the Vietnam War achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6). During his time in the service, he worked as a Tech Inspector for the Light Operation Helicopter (LOH) and the UH-1 Huey Helicopter programs.

After leaving the Army, Bob began working in the baking industry for 30 years. He would later go on to own and operate The Office, also known as Denton Mail and More, where he made many friends. Even after his “retirement”, Bob drove a school bus for the Denton ISD for 13 years where he became affectionately known as “Mr. Bob”.

Bob married Laurie on July 5, 2003. Bob was active at Angel Fire Baptist Church, and prior to moving to Angel Fire, New Mexico, Bob was also active at Denton Bible Church. He loved his work with the W2W Pregnancy Resource Center in Denton. His favorite affiliation however was the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 920 in Denton. Bob proudly served on the Board, was a member of the Honor Guard, and helped in the restoration of the Green Valley School.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Liz Hunt and Joan Hunt, sister-in-law, Debbye Hunt, brother-in-law, Gene Gray, and grandson, William River Wylie. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Laurie Hunt, daughters Wendy Hanks and Misti Rasure, stepson, Kirk Willhoite, sisters, Judy Dick and Kathy Nustad, brothers, Gerald Hunt and Rick Hunt; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations in honor of Bob Hunt be made to any of the following, VVA Chapter 920, PO Box 241, Denton, TX 76202, W2W Pregnancy Resource Center, 2436 S. I-35, #350, Denton, TX 76205, New Life Pregnancy Resource Center, 210 Bendix Dr. #4, Taos, NM 87571, or The League House of Amarillo, 7000 Amarillo Blvd West, Amarillo, TX 79106.
