Robert W. (Bob) Gray, 92 years old , passed away on March 2, 2023.

Bob was born at home on May 30,1930 in Amarillo, TX to Claude and Mae Gray.

There will be a memorial service at Lake Tanglewood Community Church at 4:00 pm on Friday March 10,2023.

Bob graduated from Amarillo High School in 1949 and served in the Army in the Dixie Division where he was a photographer. Taking pictures of General Paxton, many dignitaries, training ops and even autopsies.

Bob married his true love Paula Busby on June 13, 1959. They were married for 63 years before he passed.

Bob truly lived a life of service, exemplified by his membership in Kiwanis, DeMolay, Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was a founding member of Amarillo Executive Association. He served as Deputy Marshall of Lake Tanglewood, he was Alderman for the Village of Lake Tanglewood, he was volunteer fire department and EMT at Lake Tanglewood.

Bob and Paula were instrumental in starting Lake Tanglewood Community Church and also served on the board. Bob served as President of the Panhandle Professional Photographer Association. He was very proud of volunteering at the VA hospital for 25 years.

Bob taught many kids to waterski at Lake Tanglewood. He instilled the love of hiking and fishing to many.

He loved spending time with his grandkids fishing, hiking, and playing chess. He loved to play golf with friends. Bob and Paula rarely took a trip that they couldn’t golf together.

He started working at Gray’s studio as a youth, delivering the photo finishing to drugstores. He returned to the studio after serving in the army. He photographed countless weddings and the kids that followed. He retired in 1995.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Claude Jr (Sonny), and Johnny Gray

He is survived by his loving wife Paula, daughter Pam Gray, son Art Gray and wife Lori, son John David Gray and wife Stephanie. Six grandchildren and 5 great grand children.
