Ronald Wayne Carrington

August 4, 1955 — December 31, 2025

Lubbock, Texas

Ronald Wayne Carrington, 70, of Lubbock, Texas passed peacefully on December 31, 2025.

The family will receive guests on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 3 pm to 4 pm at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 2 pm at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 14200 Interstate 27 South in Amarillo, with Pastor Chris Condit of Hillside Christian North Campus presiding.

Ronald was born on August 4, 1955, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Dennis Wayne and Edna Pearl (Gardner) Carrington. He graduated from Tascosa High School in 1973, and completed his education at Amarillo College where he obtained his Associate’s Degree. Ronald worked for the City of Amarillo as a Traffic Engineer before retiring and settling down to enjoy life.

Ronald loved to hit the open road and head to the nearest casino he could find to spend some money hoping to hit it big. Win or lose, he would make a stop at any local Mexican Food Establishment to either spend his winnings or find comfort in a good meal. Of course, he didn’t need a reason to go get Mexican food, he would go just because. Nothing compared to the love he had for his family, especially his grandchildren. He adored them more than anyone. They were his legacy, and he made sure everyone knew it.

Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Liz Van Note. Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Carissa Autry and husband Brice and their two children of Seminole, sister, Denese Carrington of Amarillo, brother, Tim Carrington and wife Patricia of Austin; and many extended family and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made in honor of Ronald Wayne Carrington to the Wounded Warrior Project or a Veteran based charity of your choice.
