Ronald “RD” Dale Hedrick, 71, of Canyon, Texas, passed unexpectedly on October 27, 2025, with his beloved wife and children at his side.
RD’s life will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Lifeway Fellowship Baptist Church, 3315 Hancock St, with Pastor Randy Davis, Ann and RD’s longtime pastor, presiding.
RD was born on August 7, 1954, in Amarillo, Texas, to Glendale J. and Bobbie Marie (Smith) Hedrick. He was a graduate of Tascosa High School, class of 1973. Following High School, he attended Amarillo College where he became a diesel mechanic. RD spent the next few years building his knowledge of diesels which led to his next career path of driving the open road moving everything from dry freight to chemicals for various companies. On July 20, 1982, he married Ann Pshigoda in Amarillo at Olsen Park Baptist Church, now known as Lifeway Fellowship Baptist where they were lifetime members.
RD was a jack-of-all-trades. He loved working with his hands. If it broke, RD would take time to figure it out and fix whatever the problem was. He was meticulous about his tools and knew where each one was. If one wasn’t in its place, RD would scour the whole house or job site to find it. His particular, straightforward mannerisms extended to just about every other area of his life too. The family knew that he meant business and respected his preferences.
RD loved the dry climate of the Southwest United States and felt at peace in the heat. He especially loved the area of Laughlin, Nevada. Even with his no nonsense demeanor, RD had a soft side that he didn’t mind showing. He was a quiet man with a kind and giving spirit. To know him on a personal level was to feel unconditional love. RD possessed the biggest heart and loved to bestow that love to everyone, especially when it came to his grandkids who affectionately called him Papa.
RD is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Glenn Wayne Hedrick. Those left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Ann Hedrick, sons, Clayton Beagle and Carol, Bailey Hedrick and Melenda, and Tanner Hedrick and Kendra; as well as his grandchildren, Colton (Lacie), Ashlynn (Clayton), Hunter, Halle, Hailey, Maximus, and Daxston, and his great grandchildren, Cooper, Quinn, Cora, and Breyleigh. RD also leaves his nephews, Ashley, Austin, Jason, and Justin, his extended family, and many cherished friends.
