Roy Earl Bailey, 76, of Amarillo died Friday, May 29, 2009.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in St. Paul United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Roy Earl Bailey passed away May 29, 2009. He was born Nov. 15, 1932, in Pampa. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1950 and received a degree in chemical engineering from Texas Tech University in 1956. Roy married Joyce Faye Barber in 1951. They had two children, Kevin Carl Bailey, who is an architect in Dallas, and Ronda Jo Bailey Brewer, a homemaker and dog breeder and trainer, residing in Amarillo.
Roy had a 35-year career with Mason & Hanger at the Pantex plant as a department head for research and development, retiring in 1992.
Roy enjoyed fishing, seeing his grandchildren, visiting garage sales and spending time on his little slice of New Mexico. He lived his life by example and was a mentor and friend to many people.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce.
Survivors include a son, Kevin Carl Bailey and wife Rebecca J.; a daughter, Ronda Jo Brewer and husband Jim J.; six grandchildren, Erin Bailey, Ethan Bailey, Jori Brewer, Jinna Brewer Barrett, J.J. Brewer and Jodi Ann Brewer. He will be missed by his many friends, especially his best friend, Opal Young.

The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
