She was recognized by the Department of the Navy for her outstanding performance and dedication in leading the Bluetail Work Center of the Quarter in 2001 and in the same year received a letter of appreciation for her participation in the “Paint Your Heart Out Norfolk.”

Samantha left the Navy after learning that she was to become a mother to a beautiful baby girl, Jocelynn Kamay, and later to another beautiful daughter, August “Hazel” Sky and a handsome son, Henry Landon.

Samantha loved being outdoors and staying active, especially anything that involved her children and family. Samantha had an incredibly unique and contagious laughter that would fill the room. She was a giving person and always welcomed an opportunity to help whoever and whenever needed. She was known for her love for Sunflowers and Sunshine.

Samantha was preceded in death by her father Flavio “Floyd” Estrada Jr. and grandparents, Frank and Alicia Escobedo. She is survived by her mother, Mary Alice Escobedo Rael; her sisters, Georgia Estrada and Jackie Torres; her 3 children, Jocelynn Kamay, August Hazel Sky, and Landon Bleiweiss; 3 nephews, and 3 nieces.

Samantha will always be remembered for her positive attitude and impact, putting everyone else's needs before her own, her laughter, her love, and her friendship were exceedingly infectious.
