Obituary

Sherrill Lynn Ingram Guyette August 30, 1941 – June 23, 2026

Sherrill Lynn Ingram Guyette, 84, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

The family will be holding a reception at Amarillo Botanical Gardens on Sunday, June 28th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Born on August 30, 1941, Sherrill was the daughter of Rilen Swift Ingram and was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Joseph and Jeanetta Huff. After graduating from Amarillo High School, she married Raymond Farrow, and together they welcomed three children: Michael Ray, Sherry Renae, and Karen Dawn.

Through the generosity and encouragement of her beloved aunt and uncle, Marilena and Carmen Rhodes, Sherrill attended the Amarillo College School of Nursing. She later earned her CCRN certification through Southern Methodist University. A dedicated and highly respected critical care nurse, Sherrill began her career in 1975 in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Saint Anthony’s Hospital. Following the merger of Saint Anthony’s and High Plains Baptist Hospital, she continued serving patients in the Critical Care Unit at BSA Hospital, where she remained until her retirement in 2006.

In 1980, Sherrill married Jeffrey Andrew “Andy” Guyette. Together they raised their son, Stony Lynn, who was the joy of her life. Following Andy’s passing, Sherrill found companionship and happiness with Jack Word. She and Jack shared a love of travel, fishing, visiting casinos, and perhaps most of all, enjoying meals together at their favorite restaurants.

Sherrill was an avid reader, a talented internet sleuth, and a legendary maker of homemade fudge. She attended Trinity Fellowship Church from 1983 to 2002 and was a faithful member of HIS Church. Above all, Sherrill loved Jesus Christ with all her heart, and her faith was the foundation of her life.

Family was the center of Sherrill’s world. She loved deeply, gave generously, and found great joy in caring for those around her. Though she lived simply, she was remarkably generous with others. She also had a special place in her heart for animals and seemed to feel personally responsible for every stray cat that found its way to her doorstep. Her kindness, compassion, wit, and unwavering love touched countless lives.

Sherrill was preceded in death by her father, R. Swift Ingram; her husband, Jeffrey Andrew “Andy” Guyette; her son, Mike Farrow; her daughter, Sherry Nelson; and her grandsons, Benjamin Farrow, Colby Farrow, and Tyler Morgan.

She is survived by her beloved companion, Jack Word; her son and daughter-in-law, Stony and Shacie Guyette of Prosper; her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jonathan Ricker of Somerset; her stepdaughter, Amanda Soukup of Amarillo; her daughter-in-law, Donna Farrow of Canyon; her sister, Sheilah Ingram of Beaverton; and her cherished grandchildren, Anthony Farrow, Danielle Farrow, Kris Nelson, Kameron Nelson, Emily Morgan, Lily Guyette, Ella Guyette, and Foster Guyette. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members, treasured friends, and many whose lives were enriched by her love and friendship.

Sherrill’s life was defined by faith, service, generosity, and love. As a nurse, she comforted and cared for countless patients during their most difficult moments. As a mother, grandmother, partner, and friend, she gave freely of herself and made those around her feel deeply loved. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
