Shirley Mae Williams, 90, of Fritch, Texas, passed away on August 28, 2024.
Shirley Mae Williams, 90, passed peacefully at her home in Fritch, Texas on August 28th, 2024. Shirley was born in Monroe, Wisconsin, where she graduated high school and met her soon to be husband, Jack Williams, at a USO dance at Truax Airforce Base. The two were married in September 6th, 1952, the day before Shirley’s birthday. Jack was deployed for a short time overseas and they moved to Hereford, Texas, where they farmed and raised a family. She was a mother of 3, grandmother to 7, great grandmother to 12 and friend to many.
Shirley was an avid artist, focusing on painting landscapes and still life as well as an award-winning quilter. She also loved collecting various glasswork pieces. Shirley enjoyed having in depth discussions with friends and family. She was always up to date on the latest headlines, social media trends and shared her unfiltered opinions with you regardless of your interest. Even at 90, Shirley always made time to make the drive to Amarillo to spend time with those she loved. She was a spry, loving woman whose honesty, humor and apple pies will be dearly missed by her surviving loved ones: sister Sharon Keiser, granddaughters Nicole Prasad and Tara Wingate and grandsons Eddie Williams, Brent Schilling, Aaron Williams and John Williams. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Jack Williams, children, Jay Williams, Jo Lynn Schilling, and Ricky Williams, grandson, Brian Williams and daughter-in-heart, Sonya Schilling.
There will be an intimate family gathering to celebrate Shirley’s life. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider donating to a veteran’s organization of choice.
