Sue Neil Barnett, 89, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Llano Cemetery Pantheon Mausoleum.
Sue was born on October 13, 1936, in Amarillo to Horace K. Ammons and Evelyn Irene Neil Ammons. She spent her life in the community.
On February 11, 1956, Sue married Bill Barnett, in the basement of First Baptist Church in Amarillo.
Sue was a devoted homemaker whose talents and creativity touched many lives. She was an exceptional seamstress and found great joy in crocheting and knitting. Her passion for these crafts led her to teach knitting classes at Amarillo College, where she shared her skills and inspired others to create.
She especially loved the holidays and delighted in making every celebration memorable. Sue took great pride in setting a beautiful table and creating welcoming gatherings for family and friends. She also enjoyed tending to her garden.
One of Sue's greatest joys in life was her deep love for animals, particularly her beloved kitties, which brought her endless companionship and comfort.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill in 2010 and a granddaughter, Nicole Rivas.
Sue is survived by her daughter Betsey Rivas and husband Lupe; her sons Richard Barnett and wife Jeanne, and Chris Barnett all of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Anne Biscoglio and husband Eric, Alicia Rivas, Jacob Barnett and wife Emily, Blaine Barnett and wife Lauren, Harvey Barnett and wife Miranda Casias; and her great grandchildren, Kellen and Kenzie Hooker, Brynlee Biscoglio, Benjamin, Anna and Lilly Barnet and Christopher Barnett.
