Tomas Salinas, 74, of Amarillo, passed peacefully on October 9, 2023.

Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 4100 S. Coulter, with Rev. John Valdez presiding.

Tom married Jeannie Abernathy of Amarillo. During their 31 years together, they raised 3 children and four grandchildren. Tom was a member of the NSRA (National Street Rod Association) since 1970. He spent lots of time restoring classic cars. Tom and Jeannie enjoyed traveling to street rod shows all over the United States, where Tom often won awards for the cars he rebuilt. Another one of Tom’s passions in life was football. Tom was a lifetime Dallas Cowboys fan. As a Texas Tech alumni, Tom always had his guns up during college football season.

Tom is preceded in death by his father Anastacio Salinas, his mother, Refugia Salinas, and his great nephew, Evan Lovejoy Salinas.

Tom is survived by his loving wife Jeannie Salinas; daughter Laura Abernathy, son Robert Abernathy and fiancé Melanie Reyes, and son Joseph Abernathy; siblings Gloria Salinas, Pauline Gonzales, Fermin Salinas, and wife Hilma, and Gilbert Salinas; his grandchildren Alyssa, Kaleb, Devyn and Jacob Abernathy; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
