Wanda Lou (Stayton) Evans

Wanda Lou Evans, age 86, formerly of Amarillo, died in South Carolina on May 3, 2023.

The family will receive guests at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 Sout Georgia, on Sunday, May 7, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo.

Wanda was born the ninth of ten children to Leonard and Goldie Stayton on April 7, 1937, in Flagg, Texas. Wanda graduated from Hereford High School in 1955.

She Married Billy Joe Evans on April 5, 1956, in Hereford, Texas.  Wanda was a CNA at several nursing homes in Amarillo and Dumas.  She was a lifelong member of Seventh Day Adventist.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Billy Evans, six sisters, one brother, and a granddaughter Jessica.

She is survived by her daughter, Lorinda Elliott, and husband Norman of Lugoff, South Carolina; her two sons, Wayne Evans and wife Dora and Larry Evans and wife Susan, all of Amarillo; six grandchildren and nine great–grandchildren; her brother, James Stayton, and wife Lynda of Amarillo: her sister, Betty Jean Smith and husband Commie of Canyon; and brothers-in-law, John Mandaville of Canyon and Roy Evans of Hereford.
