Wanda Kramer age 91, died in Amarillo on August 7th, 2026.

Her family will host a visitation and viewing at the Schooler Funeral Home in Amarillo between 6:00 and 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 13th. There will be a similar visitation and viewing at the Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton, Kansas between 6:00 and 8:00 PM on Friday, August 14th. This will be followed by a graveside service and burial at the Hugoton Cemetery beginning at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 15th.

Wanda was born on September 5, 1934, in Hugoton, Kansas as Wanda Marie Anderson. Her parents were Owen and Lena Anderson, who were lifelong residents of Stevens County. She was educated in the Hugoton Public Schools where she was an outstanding student and member of the high school cheerleading squad. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard Lee (“Dick”) Kramer, on March 30, 1952. They remained true companions and lovers for over 70 years, ending only with Dick’s passage on April 18, 2022.

Both Dick and Wanda attended Kansas University (KU), where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and Wanda began work on her education degree. During these years, their two sons were born -- Cliff in 1952 and Kirk in 1955. After Dick obtained his MBA from Harvard University, they moved to Boulder, Colorado, where Wanda completed her bachelor’s degree in education at the University of Colorado. In 1960, they moved to Denver, where Wanda began her career in education as an elementary school teacher in the Cherry Creek School District. Beginning in 1965, Dick’s career with Andersen took an international turn, beginning with a consulting project in Kuwait, followed by assignments in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Brussels, Belgium and ultimately Lagos, Nigeria. Throughout this time, Wanda pursued her own education career with international schools at each location. Her career as an educator spanned over fifty years.

In 2005, after nearly thirty years in Lagos, Wanda and Dick purchased a home in the Tealwood community of Amarillo. However, they continued to travel back and forth between Nigeria and Amarillo to meet continuing work and service commitments there. Finally, in 2019, they retired and made Amarillo their full-time home. Her husband preceded her in death in April of 2022, as did her son Kirk.

Wanda and Dick had a strong and loving relationship throughout their many years of marriage. They journeyed and evolved together and were partners in every sense of the word. Their strong devotion not just to one another, but to their families, their communities and to the pursuit of doing the right things shaped and strengthened their own path together in life and improved immeasurably the lives of so many others.

Besides her husband and her second son, Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Owen and Lena Anderson; her sisters Christine Massey and Freida Freisberg, and brother Edward Anderson.

Those left to cherish her love and life are her brother Vernon Anderson, who lives in Hugoton; her son Cliff Kramer and wife Patricia of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her daughter-in-law, Kate Milligan Kramer of Denver, Colorado; four grandsons, one granddaughter, two great-grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.
