Anselma “Nena” Yanez Shelpman, 89 of Amarillo, Texas died Monday, February 27, 2023
Viewing will be available on Thursday, March 2nd at Schooler Funeral Home, Rosary will be held Friday, March 3rd at 6:00 p.m. at Schooler Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 4th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Hyacinth Church, officiated by Father Guadalupe.
Anselma “Nena Shelpman was born in Donna, Texas on April 21, 1933. She was the youngest out of 12 children. Nena was a devout Catholic, speaking often of how much she loved her “Beautiful God” and “Beautiful Jesus”. Nena had many occupations, including foreman of a harvesting crew, bilingual sales clerk, and a cook. Her hobbies were playing bingo, traveling, upholstery, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She loved to sing, dance and had the best sense of humor. She loved to have a good time and enjoyed making others laugh. Nena loved the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs.
Nena will be greatly missed by all her family and friends that loved her dearly.
She is proceeded in death by her 10 brother and sisters; her husband Danny Shelpman; sons Eddie Sanchez and Tomas Sanchez Jr.; grandson Shoghi Sanchez; great-granddaughter Brooklyn; mother Rosita Yanez and father Facundo Yanez.
Nena is survived by one sibling Valentine Yanez; five daughters Josie and husband Richard Esparza, Donna, Rosita, Cindy, Roxanne Sanchez and her partner Juan Lopez; six sons, T.J Sanchez, Mario and wife Elizabeth Sanchez, Rodrigo and wife Pansy Sanchez, David, Rojelio, Ricardo and wife Amy Sanchez; 43 grandchildren; 87 great-grandchildren; 6 great great-grandchildren along with a host of many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.
