Bertha Larie Chaney

Bertha Larie Chaney, 84, formerly of Amarillo, passed peacefully in her home on May 22, 2023.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 5:30pm to 7pm at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia in Amarillo, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 26,2023 at 2pm in the funeral home's Brentwood Chapel with Pastor Chris Quinto of Crossroads Church presiding. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery.

Bertha was born on December 19, 1938 in Dickens, Texas. She married her childhood sweetheart Dean Chaney on December 23, 1956 in Amarillo, Texas. She was a homemaker most of her life. She loved her family, enjoyed hosting family get togethers and trips to the mountains. She and Dean lived in Amarillo for many years and moved to Graham, Texas in 2011.

Bertha was preceded in death by her husband Dean, her parents  Woodrow J. and Edith Stephens and brother Mernon Stephens. Bertha is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Bengston of Amarillo and Arlene Herron of Oregon. She is also survived by her children Carl and his wife Wendy of Arlington, Texas, Cindy Chaney of Amarillo and Cathy Pearson and her husband Ken of Graham, Texas. She loved spending time with her 11 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
