Bob Melton, 90, of Amarillo died Wednesday, August 8, 2018.
Graveside services will be held at 9:00 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2018 at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Bob was born March 28, 1928 in Clarendon, Texas to Chester and Mary Jane Melton. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He attended Officers Candidate School at Ft. Benning, GA where he graduated with honors as 2nd LT. Bobs career was with Texaco Plant in Amarillo and retired after 43 years. He and wife Earlene were longtime members of Central Church of Christ. Bob was an avid golfer and was an active member of Tascosa and La Paloma Golf Clubs. Bob also loved sports cars, coin collecting and outdoor sports. Bob mostly enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bonnie Hearn; and 2 brothers, George B. Melton and Billy Melton.
Bob is survived by his wife, Earlene Melton; daughter, Debbie Simpson and husband, Daniel of Amarillo; son, Robert E. Melton and wife, Kimberly of Plano; sisters, LaJuan McCraw of Tyler, and Beth Moorhead of Nevada City, CA; grandchildren, Bradley Phillips and wife, Courtney, Justin Phillips and wife, Jenna, and Marissa Morganti and husband, Noah; and great-granddaughter, Everley Brynn Phillips.
