Carlos "Nick" Nicolas Montanya

Carlos Nicolas “Nick” Montanya, 59, of Amarillo passed away peacefully on June 25, 2019.

Nick was born January 24, 1960 in Burien, Washington to Monty and Mariana Montanya.

Beloved by all who knew him, he was known for his quick wit, his love of family and his kind and compassionate spirit. He was an avid guitarist and songwriter, who injected his lyrics with his humor and life experiences. He had a deep and faithful love for his sons and grandchildren, and he never met a stranger. Nick is dearly missed by his grieving friends and loved ones, but we find comfort in the fact that he is with our Lord.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Raymond Montanya; sister, September Herrold; and three nephews, Ian and Ryne McDonald, and Ryan Baca.

Nick is survived by two sons, Jeff Montanya and Nick Smith; three grandchildren, Aria, Tytan and Jaylon Montanya; brothers, James Montanya, Eric Montanya, Edward Baca and Dennis Baca; sister, Deb McDonald and husband, Steve; nephews, Sean McDonald and wife, Joy and Nick Baca; and many longtime, loyal friends.
